10 Exercises to Relieve Shoulder Pain and Tightness

Long hours of work at the computer, inactive lifestyle, overeating, lack of sleep and many other daily habits leave their imprints on your health and shape.

In fact, many health problems can be avoided by adjusting your diet. However, eating a balanced diet will not help you relieve stiff neck and back muscles.

We’ve already covered how to add more physical activity to your life, and now we’re talking about some simple exercises you can do at home. They do not require additional equipment, a lot of time, and physical preparation from you. But with their help, you will feel much better.

Remember that if you have problems with the health of the musculoskeletal system, for example, osteochondrosis, herniated discs, then any physical activity should be coordinated with your doctor.

Do these simple exercises three to six times a week. Start with 10 minutes and gradually increase the duration as you get stronger and more flexible. While doing these exercises, focus on relaxation, no effort is needed, you should not feel any pain.

Exercise 1: shoulder stretch

This exercise helps to increase flexibility and range of motion in the shoulder joint and surrounding muscles.

  • Place your right hand on your chest. 
  • Grasp it with your left hand, placing it in the bend of the elbow, gently stretch the shoulder. 
  • Hold this position for 1 minute.

Do the exercise 3-5 times on each side.
