  • Author: Sophie Carter
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Philly Cheesesteak Tortellini Pasta combines tender steak, cheese-filled tortellini, sautéed bell peppers, and onions in a rich, creamy cheddar sauce. This comforting one-skillet-inspired dinner brings classic cheesesteak flavors to a satisfying pasta meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz tortellini (fresh or frozen, cheese-filled)
  • 1 lb steak (thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 cup bell peppers (sliced, mixed colors)
  • 1 medium onion (sliced, yellow or white)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the tortellini according to the package instructions until tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced steak, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned and cooked to your preferred doneness. Transfer to a plate.
  3. Add butter to the same skillet. Add the sliced bell peppers and onion. Cook until softened and the onion becomes translucent.
  4. Add the minced garlic and stir briefly until fragrant.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium-low. Pour in the heavy cream and stir gently to warm.
  6. Gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until melted and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  7. Return the cooked steak to the skillet. Add the drained tortellini and gently toss until everything is coated in the sauce.
  8. Warm briefly over low heat, stirring carefully. Remove from the heat and serve warm.

Notes

  • Ribeye provides a richer flavor, while sirloin is a leaner alternative.
  • Fresh and frozen tortellini both work; follow the package cooking instructions.
  • Keep the heat low when melting the cheddar to help maintain a smooth sauce.
