These crispy Chicken Caesar Sandwiches feature golden breaded chicken coated in buttery garlic-Parmesan goodness, topped with creamy homemade Caesar dressing and crunchy romaine lettuce. Served on hoagie rolls or baguettes, they’re a satisfying lunch or dinner packed with classic Caesar flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 egg, whisked with a splash of milk
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup Panko
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Garlic-Parmesan Butter:

  • 4 tablespoons salted butter, slightly melted
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2–3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • ¼ cup finely grated Parmesan

For the Caesar Dressing:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon anchovy paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Assembly:

  • 4 hoagies or baguettes
  • 3–4 cups romaine lettuce, chopped or shredded

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken breasts by slicing or pounding them into evenly sized pieces. In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg with a splash of milk.
  2. In another shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs, Panko, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dip each chicken piece into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Coat thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently so the coating adheres.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the breaded chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, turning as needed. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  5. Transfer the cooked chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain briefly.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the slightly melted butter, 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and ¼ cup Parmesan. Stir until combined.
  7. Brush or spoon the garlic-Parmesan butter mixture over the warm crispy chicken.
  8. In a separate bowl, combine the ½ cup mayonnaise, sour cream or Greek yogurt, ¼ cup Parmesan, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, anchovy paste, Worcestershire sauce, and grated garlic. Mix until smooth.
  9. Season the Caesar dressing with salt and pepper to taste.
  10. Chop or shred the romaine lettuce and pat it dry. Prepare the hoagie rolls or baguettes for filling.
  11. Spread Caesar dressing inside each roll. Add the crispy garlic-Parmesan chicken and top with romaine lettuce.
  12. Drizzle with additional Caesar dressing to taste and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Greek yogurt can be used instead of sour cream for a tangy dressing.
  • Assemble the sandwiches just before serving to keep the chicken crispy.
  • Fry the chicken in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet.
